ABOUT ATOA
From Conversation to Community
The Arizona Tactical Officers Association (ATOA) was founded in 2009 out of a simple conversation at the Peoria Police Department’s firearms range. What began as an idea quickly grew into a statewide professional organization with the support of 12 agencies and a dedicated team of volunteers—all united by a single goal: to advance the SWAT and tactical community in Arizona.

Knowledge Sharing & Free Training
Since its inception, ATOA has provided a trusted platform for tactical officers to exchange knowledge, share lessons learned, discuss equipment challenges, and connect on training opportunities.
In line with our mission to enhance operational readiness, we proudly offer free training to all members. These trainings cover a wide range of critical topics, including Basic SWAT Operator Schools, sniper operations, Tactical Emergency Medical Support (TEMS), low-light tactics, AR-15/M16 armorer’s certification, SWAT defensive tactics, and night vision/thermal imaging courses, among others.
From Humble Beginnings to Statewide Impact
From humble beginnings, ATOA has grown to nearly 1,000 members statewide. We remain proud of our commitment to strengthening Arizona’s tactical community and ensuring that officers have the skills, resources, and network they need to succeed in the most demanding situations.
